Scala Data Centers, a sustainable hyperscalable data centers platform, has just joined the Infrastructure Masons (iMasons) as a Foundation Partner and announced the sponsorship of the Brazilian Chapter of the entity – an unprecedented initiative in Latin America. Founded in 2016 in the USA, iMasons is a professional non-profit association of technology and business leaders representing over US$ 150 billion in infrastructure projects in more than 130 countries.
“Enabling digital infrastructure is a fundamental pillar of Scala’s business model. By sponsoring the Brazilian Chapter, we will be able to cooperate and promote a joint agenda with iMasons, which is based on education and on advancing technical knowledge”, said Agostinho Villela, CTO & CIO of Scala and head of the Brazil Chapter. Also being a Foundation Partner, Scala is making a commitment to dedicate time and resources to the organization’s educational, networking and industry initiatives.
Jeff Omelchuck, Executive Director of iMasons, highlights the importance of Latin America for the global technology sector and the iMasons’s regional front. “The Brazilian Chapter brings prominence to the professional, technological and environmental training actions to be developed in the country and opens an important and democratic dialogue within the entire local ecosystem”, he mentioned. Together, Scala and iMasons hope to contribute to the development of digital infrastructure specifically in Latin America by approaching topics such as professional training, education, environmental-based projects, and innovation initiatives.
In May, Scala joined the iMasons Climate Agreement (ICA), which gathers more than 160 companies in the technology sector, including the major Cloud Service Providers (Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft and Meta), to adopt more measures aiming to reduce their carbon emissions and environmental impact. As sponsor of the Brazil’s Chapter, Scala further consolidates its partnership with the association.
