São Paulo, November 28, 2025 – The Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) has approved an additional disbursement of BRL 200 million for Scala Data Centers, the leading Latin American platform of sustainable data centers dedicated to the hyperscale market. The consolidation of this new financing stage reinforces the mutual trust and shared commitment to advancing the country’s technological and sustainable development. The continued support from BNDES enables future disbursements as the project progresses, expanding Scala’s investment capacity in strategic initiatives and high-impact solutions for national development. 

With operations and projects underway in Barueri, Campinas and Jundiaí (SP), Porto Alegre and Eldorado do Sul (RS), São João de Meriti (RJ), and Fortaleza (CE), this investment strengthens Scala’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) infrastructure in the region. 

The new funding enhances the company’s ability to accelerate its expansion cycle by modernizing high-density environments. The investment includes the purchase of industrial machinery, systems, IT and automation components, as well as domestically manufactured goods and locally installed technical services. The program also allows the import of specialized equipment with no equivalent in the Brazilian market, ensuring the high technical standards required to serve hyperscale clients and their intensive AI workloads. 

According to BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante, “the financing approved by BNDES is part of the government’s industrial policy, which seeks the digital transformation of the industry to increase productivity — especially now with the rapid expansion of the digital economy, which is already a reality and advancing quickly worldwide. Scala’s trajectory demonstrates Brazil’s ability to attract strategic investments and develop cutting-edge digital infrastructure aligned with the most modern standards in the global market,” he explains.

With 13 data centers in operation, Scala maintains its regional leadership with an investment portfolio exceeding USD 2 billion and more than 300 megawatts of installed and developing capacity. The company operates entirely on 100% renewable and certified energy and holds 7.1 gigawatts of reserved capacity. Among its main developments is the Tamboré Campus, located in Barueri (São Paulo), the largest in Latin America, with 450 MW of IT capacity, making it one of the largest in the world. Additionally, Scala AI City, a data center city announced for Eldorado do Sul in Rio Grande do Sul, will be developed to support large-scale processing for AI training and inference, establishing the essential infrastructure for the new era of digital technology.
